The fridge hit us hard. The aging white shelves, without even one package of frozen chicken on them. “What do you eat?” we couldn’t hold back from asking. “When we don’t have food… we spread something on a slice of bread” she answered. This valiant woman, caring for her mentally handicapped husband, the entire responsibility of the home- the challenges - the difficulties - the destitution - resting entirely on her shoulders. She runs home from her job - situated close to their home - to be there to open the door for us during the home visit. How much of a burden can one woman carry, how much?!
