The Problem?

Poverty in Israel poses a significant problem.

According to the 2020 Poverty & Inequality Report of Israel's National Insurance Institute, almost two million people live under the poverty line in Israel. 864,000 of them are children!

That's more than double the workforce in the entire Hi-Tech sector combined.

We began with the neediest families, those with young children to feed, living in dire poverty, families in distress that is referred to us by their local Department of Welfare & Social Services

What's our solution?

Companies who are members of the Alliance, pledge to make a monthly donation on behalf each of their Israeli employees, equivalent to the cost of a single lunch (approximately ₪500 annually).

According to our plan, each family will receive ₪700 a month (₪8,400 annually).

100% of all funds received will be allocated to needy families, while all operational costs are covered by designated donations of private donors, thus assuring companies that their support will be utilized in the most effective manner. Just like we are used to doing in

Hi-Tech :)

FAQ

Who us running the project?
The project is operated by ClearGiving, on a non-profit basis
Who's behind the project?
An experienced team of Hi-Tech's finest stand behind its inception and continued success: Oren Dobronsky, Yariv Davidovich, Shlomit Kapach, Itzik Lerner, Carmel Yoeli, Asaf Shulman, Itay Wizeman, Neta Will Yael Pilo Raz, and Rachely Dobronsky. The task of identifying genuinely needy families, maintaining steady contact with them and their respective Dept. of Welfare & Social Services, distributing food vouchers, and producing quarterly reports, are done by ClearGiving.com a non-profit organization.
Can one make a private donation?
Regardless of the Tech Alliance, anyone is invited and can donate as a personal donor and pick families through the families page
Why only Hi-Tech Companies?
The project was launched by Tech entrepreneurs and directors who believe in harnessing the power of technology to solve larger problems. Thus by nature Tech companies were the first to join the Alliance, but any company large or small is invited to sign up.
Why are you asking for only ₪40 per employee?
In order to create alignment between all companies and to allow any company to join the Tech alliance, regardless of its size, we decided on 40 NIS monthly on behalf of each employee in Israel, an amount that is equal to one lunch meal! If every Tech company in Israel will join the Tech Alliance, we will be able to support together about 20,000 families.
How do you choose the families?
The families we choose are only families with minor aged kids that are familiar with the social departments in the different cities. They are referred to us by the Social workers that know their difficult life stories. Representatives from ClearGiving are checking every family, conducting house visits, and accepting to join the project the families that are truly in deep need of help.
In which cities in Israel do you operate?
Our ambition is to operate in all of Israel, in 2021 we have operated in 5 cities, and since the beginning of 2022 we are operating in 11 cities and adding new ones every month. Here is an updated list of the cities: Kiryat Malaci, Kiryat Gat, Yeruham, Holon, Dimona, Beit Shemesh, Ashkelon, Ofakim, Jerusalem, Or Yehuda, Bat-Yam
How did you decide on the monthly amount each family gets?
Our full support goal for all families is 700 NIS a month in Food stamps. This amount was set after consulting with social workers and professionals and to our knowledge, it is the highest amount for food support in Israel. Besides the nutritional security those food stamps provide, it also allows the families to use the next 700 NIS they have to fulfill their most basic needs and by that relief, a little of the anxiety the parents are going through every day.
How do you know what the family does with the money?
The family gets every month a code to their cell phone that they can use only in one of the large Supermarkets that we work with, so we are certain the families only buy food and essentials.
Are you in touch regularly with the families?
Yes, we are keeping close contact with the social workers who are in touch with the families and update us on any changes and we do home visits to the families every once in a while
How do companies transfer their donation?
Companies are wireing their donation through a bank wire on a quarterly basis according to the number of employees they have in Israel
Will my donation be tax-deductible?
Yes, ClearGiving is a registered NGO (580677169) in Israel and can provide a tax-deductible receipt
How can you make sure the donation is being transferred fully to the families?
The main idea of ClearGiving is to disconnect between the operational costs and the donations themselves. All operational costs are donated by private donors. Every cent that is being donated to the families is being transferred directly to them.
Why Food stamps? Why food and not scholarships?
We believe that when a person is hungry or his kids are hungry he is unable to address any other issue. Think of the Maslow Pyramid: Basic physical needs are the basis for all. If we could provide a family nutritional security we could actually provide them with the next 700 NIS to use other basic needs like buying shows for their girl or a new bag for their boy.
