We were greeted by broken furniture and a sweet Down Syndrome little boy. In a simple, rented apartment, live a family with their 5 children, among them one special needs boy and another child with Celiac. The father makes only minimum wage, and despite his failing eyesight and serious medical concerns he doesn’t take off any time from work knowing that the family's entire finances rest solely on his shoulders. The mother has been unemployed since giving birth to their Down Syndrome son. The family doesn’t have an apartment of their own, and the majority of the father’s salary goes just to cover rent. With sickness, poverty, and the tremendous sacrifice of the parents… How can we just idly stand by?
