M. used to work for a home repairs business doing backbreaking physical labor, until being diagnosed with a tumor around his eye. After undergoing a series of dangerous treatments, he was left handicapped, and forced to leave his job. His wife A. used to be employed as a case manager for a nonprofit organization, until she began suffering from sharp back pains... after a series of tests they discovered that she was suffering from fibromyalgia. A. endures excruciating pain during most hours of the day, leaving her unable to function. “We aren’t the type of people to turn to others for help”, they broke down crying during the home visit. We cried along with them.
